Artist statement

Every time I fire the kiln I experience anew the beauty, the excitement and the anticipation of the final creation of my work. It is the entrance into a new adventure that opens before me new possibilities of creativity. My work is formed from sculpture, work on the wheel and firing according to various techniques. My extensive experience in teaching pottery, with an emphasis on the development of the creative processes, integrated with my interest in legends, fantasies and cultural traditions, brings about an unending dialogue between my internal perspective and external stimuli. My creative inspiration comes from imagination, life-experiences, associative images, techniques, moods and the unending quest. I love the dialogue between past and present, the first “childlike” touch with the basic elements – earth and water. Just as the earth has vitality and resilience, so too the shard – even though it is fragile, it can endure for thousands of years …”
