Artist statement

I come from a background of economy and finance with an M.A. in International Affairs. I grew up in Sao Paulo and art has always been part of my life. When I moved to Israel, 12 years ago, I had the opportunity to get in touch with my artistic expression again through clay, at first working with sculpture and finally finding my way into pottery. For me, mastering a technique seemed natural in the search for a beautiful shape and balance. Pottery is somehow an interface between science and art and this is what fascinates me about it. Although most of my pieces are functional, my true interest when creating is the final feast for the eye: contemplation. I draw my inspiration from classical shapes. I like the harmony that emanates and the reference to the past.
